Fire Clay Minerals
Name and Composition - Siliceous or aluminous clay; a variety of kaolinite capable of withstanding high temperatures: Al4 (Si4O10) (OH)8.
Physical Properties - It is a group of refractory clays which can withstand temperature around 1700 C resulting high fusion point and good plasticity.
Mode of Occurrence - It has two mode of occurrences.
1. Fairly well defined beds are found associated with lignite / coal seams.
2. Lenticular beds are associated with other coarser sediments.
Uses - It is used for the manufacture of fire bricks (refractory bricks), sanitary wares, resorts, crucibles, mortars, foundry, insecticides etc.
Mineral based Industries – Refractory, ceramic industries, insecticide industries.
Industrial Prospects – Refractory, ceramic industries, insecticide industries.
