Fullers Earth Minerals
Name and Composition - Composed essentially of attapulgite, montmorillonite and kaolinite: Al4Si8O20(OH)4.nH2O.
Physical Properties - It is yellowish colored, non-swelling clay having bleaching property.
Mode of Occurrence - It occurs as deep seated sedimentary deposits in tertiary formations.
Uses - It is used mostly in fertilizer industry. After activation, it is used in decolourising of oils, petroleum, lubricants etc. it also finds use as absorbant, cleaning oil, as spillage in factory floors, as carrier for insecticides and fungicides, as a mineral filler and extender.
