Granite Stones
Name and Composition - It has complex assemblages of silicate mineral like feldspar (K,Na,Ca feldspars ) with/without quartz and minor amount of mica, amphiboles, pyroxene, iron oxide etc.
Physical Properties - Granite are crystalline rocks of plutonic to extrusive origin displaying pleasant colours, being hard, it takes good polish which lasts for a long time.
Mode of Occurrence - Occurs as mounds, sheets, dykes etc., formed due to igneous extrusion/instrusion; also forms part of massif batholiths, bosses, stocks and laccolith/phacoliths.
Uses - Used as decorative and dimensional stone for wall cladding, roofing, flooring stone, grave-stone, kitchen slabs, idol making, harbor barricades, garden landscaping furnitures, cobble stone etc.
Mineral based Industries – Processing and polishing industries, tiling plants, artisan works.
Industrial Prospects – There is ample scope for establishing more units of processing and polishing tiling plants, artisan works.
