Slate Stones
Name and Composition - A metamorphic rock of argillanceous composition.
Physical Properties - It is a fine grained, hard argillaceous metamorphic rock with varying colors and having perfectly splitable slaty cleavages. It is resistant to heat & cold.
Mode of Occurrence - Occurs as metamorphic rock.
Uses - Used as building stone for roofing, paving, shelves and decorative stone etc. due to its non-conductive nature, it is vastly used in cold regions/countries. Table tops of billiyard table are made of slate, small amount is used for manufacturing school slates.
Mineral based Industries – Cutting & dressing units, edge cutting units, and school slate manufacturing units.
Industrial Prospects – Cutting & dressing units, edge cutting units, school slate manufacturing units.
